About Daryl Brown
Daryl has got speed, style and ability in spades. Whatever he points his wheels at – sending big jumps, racing, big air, slopestyle, and beyond – he has excelled at them all. From winning Crankworx Speed & Style events, multiple FISE slopestyle crowns, sending the biggest jumps in the world at DarkFest, through to breaking world records, he’s constantly pushing the limits. But big air and breaking records is just a part of what all-round nice guy Daryl does.
When he’s not sending it himself, he’s teaching others how to improve their riding as a mountain bike coach, coaching riders old and new, including inspiring the next generation with kids sessions; he also does his turn on the shovel building trails at his local bike park and coaching base, The Bull Track, near Crowborough, East Sussex.
“To push boundaries is what motivates me”
“To push boundaries is what motivates me,” he explains. “If you’re not pushing yourself then there’s no reason to do it anymore, so I’m always looking to push boundaries in different ways.”

DARYL’S CUSTOM G-180
Daryl rides a size medium custom Whyte G-180 built specially for the rigours of freeriding and sending the biggest jumps in the world DarkFest, and specced with Daryl’s selection of parts.
The biggest change from the stock bike is being able to take a 200mm RockShox Boxxer dual-crown fork to take the big hits – something that production G-180 bikes are not designed or warrantied for.
In addition, Daryl swaps the rear shock between an air can or a coil, depending on whether he’s riding bikeparks or sending the biggest jumps. He’ll run an air can (running 200psi, and mid-way through the rebound clicks) for bike park riding, and switch to a coil shock with a 550lb spring for sending the biggest jumps at DarkFest.
Daryl rides a custom Whyte G-180, built specially for sending the biggest jumps in the world.
Super short 165mm cranks with custom Pembree flat pedals, together with a seven-speed cassette handle dropping in ‘go’ duties, while stopping is taken care of by Shimano Saint brakes.
Daryl also runs a fixed seatpost with the seat slammed low, while super strong custom Hunt wheels shod with Maxxis Assegai Double Down tyres keep him rolling and gripping through everything.
In addition to his custom G-180. Daryl also has a mix of Whyte analogue and electric rigs for smashing out laps, tricking jumps, and sending huge gaps on, including the E-180 RSX, the E-160 RSX, and the prototype Snake dirt jump bike.
