Sythe 27
Youth mountain bike
SKUWSYT27V1-1
Cuts a clean line. Forgives a messy one.
We built the Sythe 27 to shrug off the sort of trails that make grown adults reconsider their life choices halfway down. Sythe 27 takes all that same know-how as our adult Sythe bikes – the progressive British design, the weather-sealing that copes admirably with our weather, and handling that inspires more confidence than we personally have most mornings — and tailors it for younger, developing riders (14 years+).
From nervy first laps to slightly-less-nervy bike park sessions, Sythe 27 is built to help riders improve at their own pace, without the bike ever being the excuse. It's tough enough to take the inevitable mistakes in its stride, and capable enough to reward the good days too.
– 150mm front + 135mm rear suspension travel.
– Lightweight 6061 T6 precision formed aluminium with high/low geometry adjustment.
– RockShox Psylo Gold suspension fork + RockShox Deluxe Select RT rear shock.
– 27.5in wheels front and rear + Schwalbe Albert Trail Radial (super soft, front + soft (rear) tyres.
– Shimano Cues 1x10 11-48t mechanical transmission.
– Tektro four-piston hydraulic brakes (180mm rotors front + rear).
– Ready to be converted to MX/mixed/‘mullet’ wheels (27.5in front, 26in rear).
Proportioned properly
Sythe 27 is built to fit from the first pedal stroke, not something to "grow into" while everyone else rides off without you. Cockpit, cranks and reach are all sized to suit a younger rider's frame, so nothing feels borrowed, oversized, or vaguely apologetic. It's proper enduro geometry, just proportioned sensibly – because there's nothing confidence-inspiring about a stem that's longer than the rider.
Suspension that does the worrying for you
At the heart of Sythe 27 sits our Quad-Link 4 suspension, tuned to take the sting out of rough terrain, awkward roots and the occasional overly-ambitious line choice. It keeps things composed when the trail doesn't, and precise enough that tight, twisty singletrack doesn't feel like a personal attack. The result is a bike that quietly gets on with things while the rider gets all the credit.
Built to survive the weather, and everything else
Whatever the British weather throws at it – and we do mean whatever – Sythe 27 is built to keep working. Weather-sealed cable ports, hose routing and seat clamp keep the worst of the water and grit out, while generous tyre clearance means mud has to try considerably harder to cause problems. Chainstay and downtube protection take the rock strikes so the frame doesn't have to, and phosphate-coated, marine grease-packed pivot bearings are built to keep quietly doing their job through yet another soggy British winter.
