Why 909 X?
Our ultimate enduro hardtail, the 909 X has been designed to deliver you stunning handling and unstoppable performance so you can tackle the most technical descents, challenging gravity trails and testing liaisons with absolute composure and confidence – before capably winching back up to do it all over again.
The fifth generation of our 900 series chassis translates perfect ‘Total Geometry’ poise through progressive geometry that balances confident but instantly reactive steering with all-day ride and climbing comfort: 64.5º head angle, 35mm stem and 37mm offset fork give confident but instantly reactive steering. 74.5º seat angle is all day comfortable but climb-attack ready and the sub-300mm ride height is a corner carving, drift surfing dream.
We’ve specially tuned the 909 X’s wide rim and tyre combination to engineer a ride that feels less harsh when you’re riding hard to give you greater grip, compliance and control when pushing it to the raggedy edge: 27.5in x 2.8in tyres have a rolling diameter like some smaller 29in tyres but, due to the wider and larger diameter of them, when paired with a wide rim (35mm internal width) this allows us to take advantage of the tyre’s massive internal air volume so you can run lower tyre pressures and significantly increase the compliance of your ride – perfect for keeping things cool, calm and collected on square-edged hits, as well as on traction-lite and off-camber sections for impeccable control and outrageous fun on every ride.

We’ve equipped the 909 X with a carefully curated suite of premium components to deliver you the very best performance when pushing hard on the most technical terrain.
RockShox’s Pike Ultimate with DebonAir and Charger RT3C damper deliver the ultimate in suspension fork control together with or wide 780mm Whyte riser bar and short 35mm Gravity stem for precise and confident control; SRAM’s GX AXS Eagle 1x12 wireless electronic shifting gives you the sharpest, most reliable shifting through every condition; reliable and controllable braking power on even the longest, roughest descents with SRAM’s Guide R2 R four-piston hydraulic disc brakes (180mm rotors front and rear); 35mm wide WTB rims to give full support and volume to the 27.5in x 2.8in Maxxis High Roller II front and Rekon rear tyre combination to put control and speed exactly where you need it to drive you forward and hold your lines; plus our own Whyte Drop.It dropper post with a size-specific drop (S/M size frame = 150mm; L/XL = 170mm) also gives you all the room to maneuver when things get committed.
Add in our unique, fully sealed BBX63 internal hose routing and seat post collar to keep controls silent, free of dirt and secure but easy to service; our 1X-specific SCR (Single Chain Ring) frame design that gives masses of mud room while keeping handling tight and responsive, together with double-sealed hubs and DT Swiss spokes help minimise maintenance, and our 909 X will keep riding as sweetly through good, bad as well as atrocious conditions.
